Long ago, my parents gave me advice that inspires me every day: live your passion. If you want to be successful in life, you need to love it. Everything I do in life is done with passion because it’s that fire in my heart that drives the creativity in my brain that stirs the passion in my soul.
But before I could live my passion, I needed an event that inspired me to pursue that passion. That unlikely inspiration came in the form of a tough breakup. I needed a creative outlet to help me cope, and found it in my sketchpad. As the CEO and creative director of Kendall Miles Designs, my goal is to empower women through my shoe designs that help them exude confidence while still being true to their own self and style.
In fashion, I have many role models that have helped women break through barriers. Coco Chanel broke all the rules and founded an incredible design company long before it was in vogue to do so. Her pioneering spirit was instrumental in breaking ground for women in the fashion industry. One of my favorite Coco Chanel sayings is, “Don’t spend time beating on a wall, hoping to transform it into a door.” Put simply, you are your own boss and if you want to make it in this world, you must create your own success and never let someone tell you that you can’t do something. That power comes from those three simple words my parents engrained in me at a young age: live your passion.
I am thrilled to say that my passion for shoe design and persistence is paying off as I continue to see success with my latest shoe collection, handcrafted in Florence, Italy. Although inspired by the 1940s and 1950s eras and influenced by vintage boutiques in Paris and New York, my designs are timeless. I especially enjoy weaving modern technology into those vintage looks and processes to create a shoe design that inspires women to live their passion, and never let anyone get in the way of that.
